Solid PVC or mesh: which banner should you choose?
Compare solid PVC, poly mesh and PVC mesh banners. Plan the material, size, finish and single-sided artwork for your fence or event display.

Start with where the banner will go
A banner for a promotion and a banner for an event perimeter can carry the same design, but the material choice deserves a separate decision. Whizprint offers solid PVC, poly mesh and PVC mesh. Start with the space: what will support the banner, which side will people see, and what needs to remain visible around it? Measure the usable display area before designing. A photograph of the proposed position, together with its width and height, is more useful for an enquiry than simply asking for a large outdoor banner.
Solid PVC: a continuous printed surface
The solid PVC option is 440 gsm and is listed for promotions, walls and general displays. Choose it when your brief calls for a solid printed surface rather than mesh. It is a useful starting point for a promotional message where the artwork is the main feature. That does not mean it is automatically the right choice for every fence: the support and position still matter. Describe the installation when asking for help, particularly if the banner will be exposed or attached to an existing structure.
Poly mesh: lightweight polyester
Poly mesh is the 125 gsm polyester option, listed for reusable event and fence graphics. Its mesh structure allows air through. Consider it when your brief calls for a lightweight mesh banner, rather than assuming every product with mesh in the name is the same material. If you are comparing it with solid PVC, look at the material as well as the artwork: a digital preview helps you arrange the design, but it cannot show you exactly how a physical sample will feel or look in your lighting.
PVC mesh: perforated PVC
PVC mesh is the 270 gsm perforated PVC option, listed for outdoor fencing and perimeter displays. It also allows air through, but it is a different material from polyester mesh. The three gsm figures describe material mass per square metre; they are not a ranking of print quality or a wind rating. For an exposed location, ask about the proposed banner and its support together. The fact that air can pass through mesh does not establish that a particular fence installation is suitable for every condition.
Choose the size and finish together
Studio lets you set a custom width and height and choose hemmed with eyelets or hemmed only. Decide how the banner will be attached before selecting the finish. If you are fitting an existing frame or fence, check its actual usable space and fixing arrangement rather than relying on a nominal size. The eyelet positions in the preview are illustrative, so do not use the render as a measured fixing template. If alignment with existing hardware matters, include the measurements and a photograph in your enquiry.
Plan for a printed front and plain reverse
These banner options use single-sided printing with a plain reverse. Put the main message towards the people you want to reach. If visitors approach from both sides, discuss the display arrangement rather than expecting the reverse to carry a second printed design. Keep the first message easy to find: a business name, a short offer or a clear direction. Then check whether smaller details are still useful at the intended viewing distance. A design that looks spacious on a laptop may need fewer words when viewed across an event space.
Compare your options in Studio
Open the banner range below to compare all three materials, or start in Studio and choose your material there. Set the dimensions and finish, then build the artwork using your own text, images and branding. Check the composition again if you change the banner proportions. Review the selected material, dimensions, finish, artwork and displayed price together before ordering. If you need help choosing, use the product page’s Ask a question option and include the location, supporting structure, measurements and intended viewing direction. That gives us a clear brief to work from.
